About Us

The Haun Piano Studio Mission

Our mission is to instill a love for music and a sense of artistry in all of our students, to help them see piano as more than a simple hobby, but an invaluable life skill that empowers them and enriches their lives.

Our Teaching Methods

“I view life and music as inseparable. I see everything in life expressed through music.”

— June Haun

We believe that learning piano is a fundamental part of a comprehensive education.

By embracing the study of piano, students learn numerous life skills, such as discipline, memory, and concentration while also developing their emotional palette, artistic taste, poise, and public presentation. Proper study of piano should impact every aspect of a student's life.

For younger/newer students we combine, traditional, Montessori, ORF, Suzuki and Kodaly methods. This way of studying makes music more than just an intellectual experience, but a whole-body mind experience, and not to mention, more fun. The five musical elements (harmony, timbre, reading, melody, and rhythm) become deeply ingrained in the student, creating a rich foundation from which artistic skills can develop quickly and organically. Early exposure to these concepts provides them with the foundation to take on more complex repertoire as they learn and grow.

For older students who transfer to our studio we provide a rigorous practicum while expanding the depth and breadth of their musical understanding, abilities, and experience. The student will continue to excel at their level, but in an injury-free manner and with a deeper understanding of the music which they are playing.

June Haun began her studies in music and piano from an early age, studying hard and overcoming impoverished conditions in South Korea before relocating to the United States.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree from University of Colorado, Boulder in Piano Performance, then later her Master of Music from University of Northern Colorado, she opened her first piano studio over 35 years ago in Greeley, Colorado. The success of this first studio led to her expanding to the Denver area, where she has been teaching for nearly 15 years.

June continues to refine and strengthen her teaching skills through studies, and has presented multiple workshops about her holistic approach to piano. She also focuses on her own growth as a pianist, often playing with the local orchestra and in concerts. Her students have won many state competitions and performed with local orchestras, and over the years she has produced many music lovers who have either gone on to study in college or have found other ways to incorporate music into their lives.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family (especially her grandchildren), traveling, and appreciating nature.
